Have you been to see “The King and I” yet? No? Go on. We’ll wait. Though if you don’t have time to climb aboard a Seastreak ferry and catch a show right now, we understand. The most important thing to know is, “The King and I” is set in Thailand, a country with a rich and colorful history. It’s also got amazing cuisine. You can add another dimension to enjoying the show by sampling some traditional Thai foods at the newly opened Kiin Thai Eatery! It’s at 36 East 8th Street.
Thailand’s Colorful Cuisine
If you’ve dined at Somtum Der, you’re familiar with the crew behind Kiin Thai Eatery. Phakphoom Sirisuwat and Supanee Kitmahawong have branched out from their Isan-inspired restaurant to create a place where you can find home-style Thai dishes. In the kitchen, chef Kornthanut Thongnum cooks up delicious creations like you’d find all that way across the sea.
One of the goals of Kiin Thai is to offer specialty dishes you won’t often find outside of Thailand. These dishes, as well as the authentic central and northern Thai foods, give New York diners a chance to experience the taste of this fascinating country without having to travel thousands of miles away.
Authentic Thai Taste
Start your meal off with one of the incredible appetizers on the menu, like the seafood po-pia. Calamari, shrimp, and surimi is wrapped with rice paper and deep fried. Or test out the homemade sai oua spicy sausage, with chili, coriander, ginger, lime, and peanuts. It’s a street food famous in Thailand!
Move on to one of the incredible soups and curries, like the red curry with grilled duck breast. Leave room for dessert! You won’t want to go without the mango and sticky rice, topped with coconut milk!
Whether you’re going out to dinner or off to a show, let Seastreak get you where you’re headed in style! Our luxurious catamarans are the perfect way to start or finish a fantastic day.
Sea you soon!
