Summer breezes are blowing, and the fresh salty air is calling to you! Grab a blanket and a picnic lunch — it’s time to head over to one of the most beautiful places in New York City – Nelson A. Rockefeller Park! Located at the North end of Battery Park City and West of River Terrace you will love passing a lazy summer afternoon enjoying the view.
A Bite of HistoryIf a picnic in the grass is not your thing, the park has plenty to offer as you simply walk around watching the boats go in and out of the harbor. A short walk up to Pier 25 will bring you to the Grand Banks. This unique oyster bar is situated on a historic handcrafted wooden sailing vessel!
The boat is a beautiful representation of craftsmanship and ingenuity. The ship was christened in 1942 as the F/V Sherman Zwicker and is the last surviving salt bank fishing vessel! While its cod and salt trading days in the North Atlantic are over – it is far from fully retired. The Zwicker is now known as one of the most prestigious oyster bars in and around the city!
Sit & SailYou have had your walk and your trip to the oyster bar; now it is time for some real sailing! Where else would you go sailing but Gotham? Sorry to disappoint, but you will not be joining Bruce Wayne. However, Gotham Sailing will not disappoint when they pick you up right at Pier 25 after you are finished at Grand Banks!
You can have an opportunity of a lifetime to sail on the Black Strap, a professionally maintained and run Jeanneau Sunrise racer cruiser. Enjoy a trip around Manhattan with a two-hour sunset sail package.
