Staying active is an important part of healthy well-being and development. With all of the technological distractions in modern life, it’s sometimes hard to get up and exercise. We’ve come up with some great ways to keep your family active and engaged, all while having priceless family fun with these adventurous activities for kids of all ages!
Kayaking and Paddleboarding
These two activities definitely take some upper body strength. Paddle through the beautiful lakes and shores of Martha’s Vineyard and marvel at the wildlife as you go. If you don’t have any equipment, just head over to Island Spirit Kayak and they’ll take care of you.

Bike riding is a classic way to see the sights, while also getting to use those leg muscles. If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy New York City, try a Bike and Roll guided tour. These bike tours take you throughout the city using the safest streets for cyclists. If you prefer quieter rides, bring your bike to Sandy Hook, NJ, and enjoy ocean views as you pedal down the picturesque pathways. Don’t forget to stay hydrated!

Miniature Golf and Rock Climbing
On Martha’s Vineyard, at Island Cove Adventures you can enjoy two fun family activities in one place! Rock climbing is a great way to use that upper body, and the sense of accomplishment when you reach the top is unmatched! While mini golf may not help you and your family flex those muscles, it’s always fun to have a little friendly competition (especially if the loser buys ice cream)!

If you want to enjoy an outdoor adventure that you need no equipment for, head to the beach! Swimming is a great workout, and a lot of fun. Head over to Sandy Hook on a Seastreak ferry, and enjoy a stress-free time without having to worry about traffic on the way. Just bring your beach bag, and don’t forget to pack some sunscreen!
It’s always nice to bond with family, while getting outside and enjoying the outdoors. What are your favorite summer activities to do with your family? Let us know on this blog by clicking on the title of this article, or via Facebook, or Twitter @SeastreakFerry
